When you get to the point of truly comprehending your pain and it’s effects on your soul, what anyone else thinks will cease to matter.

Trauma is a complex beast and not one easily slayed. It’s residual aftershocks are powerful and can take years to overcome.

People who haven’t been through something similar, simply can’t fathom what you experience daily. Most people aren’t gifted with that level of empathy.

You’ve walked through fire and yet there are those people who complain because you smell like smoke. They become frustrated when you fear or avoid the flames. They judge you.

The powerful thing is that they don’t understand you, but if you can learn to understand them..... if you can accept that they will never get it, you will find peace. They aren’t bad people, they just aren’t equipped to comprehend you or your situation.

Accept that fact and adjust accordingly. You don’t necessarily have to lose every person who doesn’t understand you. You can make that decision.

You are strong.
You are courageous.
You are a beautiful survivor.

You will continue to rise.

The only good thing about loving you...was eventually I didn’t anymore.

Four-and-a-half years later, I am whole, I am healthy, and the pieces of the heart you shattered, have been glued back together by God himself.

I am stronger than I’ve ever been and I know the man exists who will love me completely. I also know:

You’re not him.

I couldn’t love you into loving me.

I deserved better.

I never have to apologize for loving with my entire heart, for being a passionate person, for naming a star after the man I love, or for being who I am.

Dig deep into that beautiful heart of yours and find your value, your meaning...your purpose. Stop looking for it in people, things, and situations where you will never find it.

You are spectacularly perfect being the person you were created to be. If you’re not certain who that is, start listening to your inner voice, start sitting with your heart—carefully considering what brings you joy. Allow that to direct your path.

Pray and then be silent. God speaks to you in the quiet places. You will find your way and that direction will not be determined by anyone else.

I know I’m wearing my prayer warriors out, but my son Alec had a bad fall and damaged two of the discs in his lower back and nerves are being pinched by the damaged discs. He is having neurosurgery on his spine to free the nerves tomorrow morning.

Please pray for Alec. He is only 26 and so young to be having spinal surgery. I know he is safe in God’s hands, but I’m also a believer of the power of prayer and know that God bends down to listen. Because of that, I am asking for all the prayers we can get.
